Access Half-Life game files and select certain multimedia items to extract them. Process BSP, GCF, PAK, VPK, WAD, and XZP packages in a single or batch mode. Defragment GFC files and generate a fragmentation report before starting the procedure. The solution runs independently of Steam.

The GCFScape tool is a file explorer for certain types of files related to games. Many games have their content inside one big package file. This normally does not mind the regular gamer, but for mod developers, being able to see the models, textures and general files of a game is essential. Although GCFScape is intended originally for the Half-Life engine (a modified Quake engine) the utility also works with other games that use similar files. You can associate these files to GCFScape, so you can open them directly from Windows. The interface is very similar to a file explorer, with a file tree on the left side and the files and folders on the right. This tool also has nice features such as extracting the files to any folder. You can also preview the files without the need to extract them. There is also an option to defragment .gcf files to improve their performance. It is a very stable tool with no bugs or crashes experienced in the test use. It does its job correctly. It is really one of the best package viewers on the Internet.
